Prof. Dr. Lale Dilbaş
Upon graduating with a degree in Ceramic and Glass from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, she obtained her first Masters from Dokuz Eylul University in the same field. She completed her second Masters in Fine Art at Bretton Hall, University of Leeds (UK) and her PhD in Glass from Edinburgh College of Art, Heriot-Watt University (Scotland), on the subject of Turkish Glass Culture and Its Relationship with Contemporary Glass and Education. Apart from her long-standing career as an academic she has also taken part in various exhibitions and workshops in Turkey and abroad. Her works combine glass and ceramics, and she has a strong interest in traditional pottery making –ceramic cook stoves in particular, especially focusing on South Asia.
Prof. Dr. Berrin Yanıkkaya
Berrin Yanıkkaya is Professor of Communication Studies and the Dean of the Faculty of Communication at ARUCAD. She is also the acting Vice Rector in charge of Administrative Affairs. Before joining ARUCAD she had been working as the Head of the School of Communications Studies at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and before locating to New Zealand, she had worked for Yeditepe University in Istanbul for 20 years. Her most recent roles there were that of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communications, as well as Head of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema, Ankara University (1995), her Master of Arts degree from the Department of Radio, TV and Cinema, Yeditepe University (1999) and her PhD degree from the General Sociology and Methodology Doctorate Program, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (2004). She was awarded a post- doctoral research fellowship by TUBITAK-BIDEB for her research on alternative media at York St. John University, York, UK in 2013.
